A quick color version of an old sketch. Coloring it was an interesting experience because I started to realize how much I’ve grown as an artist over the past year. Sometimes change is hard to see, and it doesn’t feel like you’re making any progress, but sending the time coloring a drawing I thought was pretty fantastic a little over a year ago and realizing how much better the work I’m doing now is was very exciting.
Anyway, she’s the main character in a short story I’ve been talking about drawing for a little over a year, and I feel like I’m about ready to sit down and draw it. She won’t look quite like this in the actual comic.
A button design for the cafepress shop I’m getting ready to launch. This is the first of a set of buttons with characters from Emma and the Fairy Queen.
A sketch I started on today.
Renderings for my costume design final, of two of the characters in the Shadowrun game I’ve been playing in for the last few semesters.
Last sketch for the February Sketch-a-day challenge! I know. I took an extra day to get my 29 sketches done. But this last one is a Rapunzel inspired sketch, and my not-quite-on-time-ness means you get a sketch the first day of March as well as more-days-than-not during February! So it’s not a bad deal.
Sketch! Last day of February!! I do have one more I missed though, so you still get a sketch tomorrow.
Violetvixen asked what type of tablet I use on the last post, and I can’t figure out how to post a return comment, so I’ll reply here. It’s an intuos 4. My dad got it for me for Christmas, and it’s a fantastic tool. I still have a lot of fondness for plain old pencil and paper, but this makes putting things online much easier and it’s fun to play with.
It’s a sketch of a sketch. I am experimenting with taking drawings on paper and digitizing them by tracing them with the tablet. Success varies. On this particular drawing, the original pencil sketch is much nicer. I think this method will work better with less detailed sketches. Anyway, sketch 27!
Sketch 24 was an artistic reinterpretation of this photo:http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-39NbWDrgklw/TmxNABvfHlI/AAAAAAAAA30/wBs3h2Vd6vE/s1600/octopus_1.jpg
